8:30 – 9 a.m.: Morning coffee/tea

9 – 9:15 a.m.: Welcome by Doug Lenzini and Carmen Sevilla

9:15 – 9:45 a.m.: Keynote Speaker – Kent Toussaint: "Video Games:  A Parent’s Best Friend?"

10 – 10:55 a.m.: Session 1 Workshops 

11 – 11:55 a.m.: Session 2 Workshops 

12 p.m. – 12:40 p.m.: Lunch

12:45 – 1:30 p.m.: Session 3 Workshops

1:35 – 2 p.m.: Alumni panel

– 3 p.m.: Informal Bridges Graduate School and Teen Therapy Center exhibits and networking opportunity (optional)

Presentations & Workshops

​Session 1 - 10:00 am - 10:55 am:  

  • Discovering Strengths using the Suite of Tools w/Susan Baum (Phoenix Parent Cohort)
  • Screens & Teens:  Video Games, Social Media, and Other Electronic Obsessions w/Kent Toussaint (Middle School Parent Cohort)
  • Building Empathy for Neurodiversity: An experiential workshop focusing on receptive skills w/Marcie Habell  (High School Parent Cohort)

Session 2 - 11:00 a.m. - 11:25 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. - 11:55 a.m.:
Parents will be in two groups within their respective cohort and rotate to both 25-minute workshops

Phoenix Parent Cohort
  • Animals and Social Skills: Learn how to use animals to promote a state of well being and teach appropriate communication and social interactions w/Dafna Kaiserman
  • Science-based activity to identify your strengths w/Ashley Dates & Michael Dennis

Middle School Parent Cohort
  • Gameplay as a tool for Social Skills Development and Practice w/Scott Swick
  • Science-based activity to identify your strengths w/Kayla Steinke & Carmen Sevilla

High School Parent Cohort
  • Mindfulness and Well-being - Learn about the practice of mindfulness and how it provides consistent benefits for adults and children w/Greg Kaczinski
  • Talent Development Through Student Perspectives: This session will cover an overview of the Young Experts Program and highlight the experiences of three current Bridges High School students w/Keri Borzello, Anna, Schaerf and student guests, Joy, Veronica and Charlie

Lunch - 12:10 p.m.

Lunch Speaker on the South Lawn - The Journey of a 2e Family in a Nutshell w/ Karen Breslow, Bridges Board of Trustees and parent of a Bridges alumnus. 

Session 3 - 12:45 p.m. - 1:30 p.m.

  • Staycations: Balancing your 2e children's strengths, interests, and talents and your own self-care needs. A discussion and guided hands-on activity w/Marcy Dann (Phoenix Parent Cohort)
  • Parents as Opportunity Makers. Utilizing strengths for talent development outside of the school environment w/Susan Baum (Middle School Parent Cohort)
  • 5-4-3-2E… Launch! Transitioning through High School to Adulthood w/Kent Toussaint (High School Parent Cohort)
